The topic of the Annual Gala Lecture Series 2017, organized by the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum of Tucson, is “The Symbolism and Significance of Regional Birds, Seen through the Eyes of Two Artists and Two Cultures”.
The presentation will be focused on the interpretation of birds in the arts of Native American and Mexican culture. Shonto Begay, celebrated Navajo artist and storyteller, and Dr. Isabelle Collins, art historian and master Talavera ceramist, will share their compelling passion about the role of birds in their art.
Thanks to collaboration with “ITKIUS for TRUST” project it is possible now to discover in a new way the manufacturing art of Arte Ventosa and the traditional knowledge used by Dr. Isabelle Collins.
