The XIII UNESCO CREATIVE CITIES CONFERENCE took place from June 10th to June 15th in Fabriano, Italy. During the Meeting, the International Traditional Knowledge Institute – Chapter US with the city of Bergamo, a candidate to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and the future hosting city of the international event “World Cheese Award”, held a conference on the subject “Artisanal Cheeses of the Creative Cities” in the Crafts & Folk Art Pavillon on June 12th.
This project has the main aim of preserving, narrating and sharing artisanal cheese making traditions, as well as sharing the ancient techniques used. The project could be easily integrated by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a new intra-cluster, intra-network project. The firsts results of the project could be presented during the World Cheese Award 2019.
The project has potentials to be carried forward over the years, slowly incorporating not only all the UNESCO Creative Cities, but also any artisanal cheese-producing communities around the world. After the presentation of the project, Mr. Francesco Maroni, the main promoter of the committee dedicated to Bergamo Candidate UNESCO Creative Cities, narrated Bergamo’s ancient history of cheese-making.
